Ahhhh... Welcome to the great British Summer...!

There was a Queen song containing the line "Thunder and lightening / Very very frightening"...

Well, I dunno about being frightened, but ye flippin' gods, the rain was torrential, and the thunder and lightening was well bleedin' loud, and well bleedin' bright, respectively.

So. Do we blame the Icelandic Volcano, the missed Gotterdammerüng over in Times Square, or just global warning again?

Answers on a postcard, please ;-)

"You either love it, or you hate it"...

I suppose certain Danes hated it then, as they just banned it!

BBC News: "Denmark bans Marmite under food safety regulations"

Well, I guess they have to protect their smelly Pickled herring industry somehow, but I think this is a bit like taking a Bentley to swat a fly, somehow...!

Colour me vastly underwhelmed...

OK, here I am, just about to get to the western terminus, and me darn bus breaks down. Just as I'm about to finish me duty for the day. Just ten bleein'm minutes, but could it wait? Nope. The red lights of engine death, the wail of banshee-like alarms, and for you, ze bus iss ofer, ja? Well, not quite.

Now, I have to wait for the engineers to get here, to assume responsibilty for the bus.

Sometimes, luck goes right out the blasted window, y'know?

Stolen within the last 24 hours, along with my car...

No, I'm not kidding. Stolen from the Bromley, South London area, right from outside the front of my block of flats, no less, and no-one saw a blasted thing.

  • Full set 58 pattern webbing less bayonet frog and pistol holster
  • British issue Mess tins (not that important, frankly, replicas can be had for peanuts)
  • Folding skeleton bed (1980s issue, replica)
  • 58-pattern roll mat, issue (genuine)
  • Reconditioned 58 pattern sleeping bag, regular size
  • Sleevelets, traffic directing, silver/white
  • Tabbard, orange/silver, marked "MILITARY POLICE" (Obselete, only of value to collectors and Living history types like me)

The Sleevelets and Tabbard are in the right ammunition pouch of the webbing.

The items were in the boot of the car. The car, which was declared Off-Road to the DVLA last year (and stored on the private off-road carpark hard stand here), is a Silver Ford Modeo, V59NGY. Also insude the car a two-way amateur radio tranceiver, a dual band (2m & 70cm) Yaesu FT-7800E, with remote mounting kit, radio s/no 6H531885.

To say that I'm exceedingly hacked off is putting it mildly, of course. This has been reported to the Police, and any information should be passed in the first instance to them. Thanks.

A picture worth a thousand words...

...but I'll comment anyhow.

What a blindingly self-important and totally ignorant dullard. Thanks, matey, you just blocked the road.

Muppit.

Problem is, he's not alone. There are loads of gormeless half-witted peanut-brained cretins out there who only think of getting one car length, or a bus lenth ahead of the car or bus in front.

So, we come back to my contention that the only people that shold be permitted to drive are those who drive professionally for a living.

It's cheers up the Green lobby, infuriate the motoring organisations, and give a certain telly personality whose initials are JC an apoplexy

Y'know, that's the best reason of all, come to think of it - come on let's do it!

I detest being ill. It sucks.

So, I'm currently on a second day off sick, with what appears to be a nasty dose of food poisoning. Trust me when I say this, it is most definately not nice.

In all likelihood, it's probably my own fault, as I suspect that I may not have reheated something properly. And therein lies a lesson, folks. ALWAYS make sure that what you reheat - especially in a microwave oven - is so fully and completely piping hot that it makes the paint scald off the walls at thirty paces!

But, through an almost insane amount of effort, I managed to stagger round the corner (to the school that's used as a voting station) to cast my vote in yesterdays referendum, practically at the last moment (about a quarter to ten, I think I got there) with copious rests between staggers, and much deep breathing and sweating, but I got there. Here in London, that was the only game in town: we had no council- or by-elections to worry about, just the referendum.

On reflection however, it appears that I needn't have bothered; the majority of you disagreed, as AV would appear to have been voted down, according to the exit polls. I strongly suspect that you lot really missed the point about AV, but that's democracy (and a shedload of negative propaganda) in action, I guess.

Anyhow, unlike yesterday, when the white porcelain god (well, mid-lime green in my bathroom, anyhow) was being worshipped rather a lot, I'm actually feeling a fair bit better today, and able to hold down me food, but nowhere near fit enough for work, dammit, (you try standing upright and using your legs when you've been ill almost an entire day - your stomach muscles'd complain too, trust me), so we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Have a better time than I'm having, folks, and remember: Heat that stuff all the way through!
